Welcome Dreamers! We couldn’t be more excited to share the fun we had while creating our latest 2018/19 lookbook – Tarantism.
The making of Tarantism was inspired by the meaning of the word itself, and the intense love of dance it conveys. This lookbook is an expression of our love and commitment to dance, and the performance world. STAGE is a makeup line made by performers for performers, and you dreamers are a constant source of motivation to us!♡

Why Tarantism? What was your motivation in choosing the title of STAGE’s latest lookbook?
When I first learnt about the meaning of Tarantism I was instantly drawn to it, as it connects movement to the underlying passion and instinct that runs deep in all performers. To me ‘the sudden urge to dance’ isn’t about some random happening, but rather the desire to move in a way that feels authentic to your passion, purpose + self. Tarantism is an inspiration to do what feels instinctively good for you… be it dance, skating, cheerleading, or an other form of creative expression.
In what way does Tarantism connect with your audience?
I think Tarantism connects to each person who has a passion for their art, because it is the backbone of why we do what we do, in it’s simplest form. Tarantism is something that every artist feels. Maybe when you come into your studio ready to train, or on your way to school or work, or even when you are sitting at a desk. We feel the urge. It is a part of who we are and we want to celebrate that.
What was your inspiration behind the makeup looks? How did you go about selecting them?
Minimal + bold. Less is more. For our 2018-19 lookbook we wanted to simplify our look to amplify the impact. Normally it is believed that more products = improved look, but we were inspired to bring performance makeup to it’s simplest but boldest form. This is also why we chose effortless bodysuits rather than stage costumes. We chose lips that make a statement with our black + brown shades, and unique liner designs that pull out individual creativity. We wanted to showcase how easy it is make a statement with your makeup look this season, and that creativity will always shine through (aka pops of gold glitter).

What was your inspiration behind the makeup looks? How did you go about selecting them?
The monochromatic look we featured in this years lookbook was our take on the popular street look we commonly see now in 2018. We love to think outside of the box + break the ‘performance makeup’ rules and to give performance team’s permission to do the same.
We know that there are many ways to create an amazing stage look, but it’s easy to get caught up in believing that there is only one way of doing this. The featured monochromatic looks are our way of breaking some rules. Using the same colour across the eyes, cheeks + eyes in various colours breaks all the rules but offers a dramatic and powerful performance look.
